Ahmad El shukairy & khawater, the fabulous duet.
To be honest, Ahmad el shukairy was not my first choice when they asked me to write about a person who inspired me. My mind went directly to George Orwell and Nick Vujicic and continued its way up in searching among the western characters but I admit it, it didn't my intent at all to write about an Arab character. My conscious did not go to this area. After a lot of thinking about the main core of the article, I found that I ought to write about the person who had changed me the most, and according to that I found that almost the good things I'm doing now came out from a TV program called Khawater with Ahmad El Shukairy as a presenter. One more reason encouraged me to write about Ahmad El Shukairy which is that I'm trying to change the already existed perception that whatever comes from the west is good and that there's no fabulous inspiration in our Arab world.
Ok let's go to the core of the matter, Khawater &, Ahmad El shukairy, the fabulous duet.
Ahmad Mazen El Shukairy ( born in 1973) is a Saudi media personality, Muslim Preacher, activist, writer in many magazines and newspapers, and businessman.
He won the 1st place as the most influential personality in the Arab world. He has a great educational status as he has a BSc in Management Information Systems from California University and had done a master in Business Administration from the same university .He's married from a fashion designer, and two kids Youssef, and Ibrahim.
And for those who don't know Khawater, it's a TV show with a 5-minutes duration, expanded to around 15 minutes in the later versions, which tends to spot on the vulgar and negative actions we do in our daily life and tries to give solutions and better manners of dealing with them.
"The program leans on the fact that the best words are those which are few and meaningful." El shukairy said. "The problem there that we don't know if the Arab youth will accept and love a program with such a duration or his watching to it would be only by chance." ,he continues. But it seems that we're now really in the age of takeaway. The program ,with its 1st version "Khawater 1", had accomplished unexpected reverberations which encouraged MBC channel wants to continue showing it after Ramadan, but Ahmad El shukairy wanted to make it a Ramadan-ian program.
The advantage of this unique show is that it does not talk to you from the usual religious prospective. It take a wholly new track which almost all of us misses; the civilization track. He always says that he's not a scientist or a preacher, but I am a teenager. His show attracts wide sector from the society because of its simplicity and its attempt to heal the society's illnesses. In many times, some campaigns had been attached to his show such as: cleaning the baths of the mosques.
The new techniques he use qualifies him to touch the matter in a specific point which makes you activated with the issue.
Going further to the 5th version of his show ,which was about the manifestations of civilization in Japan, was the greatest in my opinion. He directed to Japan and went into how civilized, well educated, full of self esteem; organized; how they use technology in almost every single thing even the simplest ones, how they respect their minds and their children, etc. faithfully it was a shock to me when I watched that. Yup, I know that Japan is one of the most developed countries, but to hear is something and to see is something else.
This version was like the electric shock doctors use to induce the heart to return rhythmic.
Andalusia, the unknown project of El Shukairy. What's the Andalusia exactly ? Andalusia is a project
which had been launched few years ago with a vision of "Restoration of the Read-Nation to reading". He noticed the great embarking of the youth upon cafes, and wasting their time there without a useful thing to do, so the idea popped up in his mind to establish Andalusia as a commercial and cultural project, it is a cafe where not only foods and drinks are ordered but it can provide you some well-picked books.
This is a tribute to Ahmad El shukairy and his pioneering T.V Show 'Khawater'. El shukairy stands as a bright example of young Muslim youth who are bringing about a change, and helping to elevate our nation.
We strive to support his initiatives and to take his ideas a step forward.
